What Awaits You
On This Journey
Day 1
Buluk (Kundustug)
This is a group of fresh cold springs on the right bank of the Yenisei River, 2 km below the city of Kyzyl. The name of the arzhaan, Buluk, is more ancient. This name is due to the fact that the spring does not freeze in winter and steams on frosty days, in Tuvan, buluktap turar. The name Kundustug (direct translation – the place where beavers live) was proposed by the patriarch of Tuvan literature, the ethnographer and shamanist Kenin-Lopsan Mongush Borakhovich. However, the locals, for example, from the village of Eerbek, do not agree with this name and defend the ancient name of Arzhaan Buluk. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this place was the headquarters (aal) of one of the local princes, which was called Buluk.
The mineralization is 0.56 g/L, the temperature is 6.1°C, and the pH is 7.7. The total hardness is 5.35 mg-eq/L, which means that the water is soft. The composition is sulfate-hydrocarbonate sodium-magnesium-calcium. Thus, Arzhaan Buluk is a table water that can be used for drinking purposes without restrictions.
In folk medicine, it is used for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (it cleanses), the nervous system, and the cardiovascular system (it lowers blood pressure).
An introductory lecture.
Arzhaan Tos-Bulak
This spring is located 9 km from Kyzyl on the Erzin highway. In terms of macrochemical composition, it is a hydrocarbonate magnesium-sodium spring with a mineralization of 1.74 g/L. This means that it is a mineral spring, unlike Arzhaan Buluk, which has a mineralization of less than 1 g/L (specifically, 0.56 g/L). The total hardness of the water is 12.7 mg-eq/L, which means that it is very hard. People come to the spring all year round. According to popular belief, the water of Arzhaan Tos-Bulak helps with gastrointestinal problems, such as heartburn. Additionally, it is interesting that the water contains lithium at a concentration of 19.0 μg/L. This means that the water of Arzhaan Tos-Bulak can reduce the risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, as well as the risk of suicidal tendencies.
The water of Arzhaan Tos-Bulak can be classified as a therapeutic table water, which means that it can be consumed for a limited period, such as two to three weeks. After a break of one to two months, it is possible to repeat the course of drinking treatment.
This is a brief introduction.
Lake Dus-Khol
The lake is located in a non-draining depression within the Altai-Sayan folded zone in the central part of the Tuva basin, 45 km south of the capital of the Republic of Tuva, Kyzyl, at an altitude of 701 m above sea level. The main natural healing factors of Lake Dus-Khol are the climate, brine, and therapeutic mud of the lake. The climate is dry. The brine is a strong brine with a mineralization of 150-280 g/L, a chloride-magnesium-sodium composition with an increased bromine content. The brine of Dus-Khol is classified as a therapeutic water that is used only externally (bathing). In the past, the brine and mud were used for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and skin diseases. The phenomenon of heliothermia has been observed in Lake Dus-Khol: the brine of the lake acts as a lens that focuses solar energy in the bottom layers, resulting in higher temperatures (35-41°C) in the bottom layers of the brine and mud compared to the surface of the lake (23-26°C). The natural heliothermia of Lake Dus-Khol significantly enhances its balneological value. In 2013-2014, medical and biological (pre-nosological) studies of spontaneous folk treatment were conducted on the lake. The doctors noted one of the most striking examples of the benefits of the brine and mud of the lake, specifically in the treatment of atopic dermatitis. On the eastern and southern shores of Lake Dus-Khol, there are springs that feed the lake. The waters of both springs near Lake Dus-Khol are classified as therapeutic-table waters that are used for short periods of time for internal consumption. These waters are beneficial for gastrointestinal diseases, liver, pancreas, metabolic disorders, and urinary tract diseases. Additionally, the significant concentration of helium in the gas phase of the springs, which exceeds the atmospheric background by 100-180 times, is noteworthy. This suggests that the waters of the springs have a deep origin. From the point of view of the therapeutic effect, the waters of the Dus-Khola springs can help to increase blood flow in blood vessels and capillaries, which in turn can reduce inflammatory processes in the lungs. These are just assumptions, and medical and biological research is needed. The approximate nearest analogues are waters of the Pyatigorsk type: Mashuk-1 and Mashuk-19.Swimming,introductory lecture. Lunch.
Arzhan Uurgaylig (Argolik)
This is a healing spring in the Tandinsky District of the Republic of Tuva. It is located approximately 10 km from the village of Bai-Haak, at the foot of the Tannu-Ola Range, in a picturesque coniferous forest. It is known not only in Tuva, but also far beyond its borders. Arzhan has only recently been used for medicinal purposes, since the second half of the 20th century.
This is a group of cold, fresh springs with a temperature of 7°C, a mineralization of 0.22 g/L, a pH of 8.2 (slightly alkaline), and a total hardness of 2.65 mg-kav/L (soft water). The composition is hydrocarbonate magnesium-calcium. There is no radon, and the concentration of metacremic acid is 17 mg/L (the balneological norm is 50 mg/L). The water of Arzhan Uurgaylig, like the water of Arzhan Buluk, is classified as table water, which means that it can be consumed without any time restrictions. It should be noted that studies have shown that the water of Uurgaylig can be classified as high-quality drinking water.
It is used by the local people for the treatment of osteochondrosis, polyarthritis, and various inflammatory processes. Patients with hypertension also come to receive treatment, and paralyzed patients and those with cerebral palsy are frequent visitors. On the Arzhan altar, there are many toys and dolls that were donated by women who had been cured of infertility. In the 1990s, crutches left by patients who had regained their feet were collected in a separate area.
An introductory lecture and the ritual of consecrating the Arzhan. Dinner and overnight stay in a yurt or tent.
Day 2
Lake Cheder
Lake Cheder. It is located 45 km southeast of the capital of the Republic of Tuva. The terrain is characterized by a dry steppe. The lake is a closed lake located in a shallow depression within the vast Central Tuva Basin, at an altitude of 706 m. The lake is fed by a stream that flows into the lake from the south, as well as by groundwater from the Quaternary lake sediments. Lake Cheder has been used for medicinal purposes by the people of Tuva since ancient times. The first scientific studies of the lake's brine and mud were conducted in 1932 by the Soviet balneologist V.M. Levchenko, who was invited by the government of the Tuva People's Republic (1921-1944). Since that time, the establishment of an official resort institution has been ongoing, although the first buildings for vacationers date back to ten years earlier. The main balneological factors of the Cheder resort include the climate, the lake's brine, and the therapeutic mud. The lake's brine, which is a strong saline solution, is classified as a therapeutic water (i.e., only for external use, such as swimming and baths). The closest analogues of Lake Cheder are Lake Uchum (Krasnoyarsk Krai) and Lake Bolshoy Tambukan (Pyatigorsk). The indications for using therapeutic mud include diseases of the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, gynecological, skin, digestive, endocrine, cardiovascular, and other conditions. Since Soviet times, Lake Cheder has been known for its effectiveness in treating infertility. There is a story about a Moscow family who visited the lake in the 1960s and 1970s. They had been trying to have children for a long time, but after receiving treatment at Lake Cheder, they gave birth to a baby boy. They named him Cheder. After his birth, the family returned to the lake every year until he grew up. An introductory tour of the new modern year-round resort complex.
Arzhaan Churek-Dorgun
This is a healing spring in the Kaa-Khem District of the Tuva Republic. It flows out at the foot of a small mountain, at an altitude of 830 m above sea level. The name translates as “heart spring flowing in a forest.” It is located 20 km to the north-east of Kyzyl.
This is a fresh, cold spring. The total hardness is 6.35 mg-eq/L, which means that the water is of medium hardness. The waters of Arzhaan are classified as table waters of priority quality and are used for drinking, therapeutic showers, and eye washing.
In traditional medicine, Arzhaan Churek-Dorgun is used to lower blood pressure, treat eye diseases, and manage the consequences of stroke.
General indications: Based on the fact that the shower procedure used in Tuvan Arzhaan medicine is similar to the jet (Charcot) shower and massage shower in hydrotherapy (differing only in the temperature of the water jet), cold showers and baths at Arzhaan springs in Tuva can be recommended for functional disorders of the nervous system, overweight and obesity, injuries to the musculoskeletal system, joint diseases (excluding tuberculosis), muscle and tendon disorders, traumatic injuries, and peripheral nervous system disorders, among others.
